Venturing
Venturing
is a co-ed program for 14-20 year olds. The whole purpose is to provide
new opportunities or experiences to groups of young adults. We offer over
120 different activities, ranging form archery and rock climbing, to scuba
and shooting sports. Hi-tech programs like GPS's and ham radios are also
offered. Our nearly 80 consultants will invite you to existing activities,
or help you design one of you won. Our facilities are open year round-
and offer great outdoor events - or plan your own. If you're interested
in trying new adventures - you're interested in Venturing!
A source of new
experiences in co-ed environment is only part of what our program has
to offer. Venturing is best described as fun with a purpose. Venture Crew
members share a sense of belonging. They belong to a group of young adults
with similar interests. While exploring their interests, they learn more
about teamwork, leadership, respect and responsibilities. All of which
are skills they will benefit from in their adult life.
Venture Crew members
also have the chance to participate in a number of "High Adventure"
activities. Locally, that might be caving, climbing, or scuba diving.
Venture crews and members may also choose to participate at one or all
of our high adventure bases. Philmont Scout Ranch: 137,000 acres near
Cimarron, New Mexico, fates backpacking, hiking a ranch-hand experience,
or more. The Florida Sea Base: located in the Florida Keys, offers sailing,
scuba, deep-sea fishing and tropical island camping- The Northern Tier
National High Adventure Base offers wilderness canoe expeditions in the
summer and great winter camping programs in the winter months.

Boy Scouts
Program Benefits
The Boy Scouts
of America was incorporated to provide a program for community organizations
that offers effective character,
citizenship and personnel fitness training for youth. The Boy Scout program
is for boys ages 11-17.
Specifically,
the BSA endeavors to develop American citizens who:
- Are physically, mentally and emotionally fit
- Have high degree of self-reliance as evidenced in such qualities as
initiative, courage and resourcefulness
- Have personal values based on religious concepts
- Have the desire and skis to help others
- Understand the principle of the American social, economic and governmental
systems
- Are knowledgeable about and take pride in their American heritage
and understand our nation's role in the world
- Have a keen respect for the basic rights of all people
- Are prepared to participate in and give leadership to American
society.
Personal Growth
As Boy Scouts
plan their activities and progress toward their goals, they experience
personal growth. The Good Turn concept is a major part of the personal
growth method of Boy Scouting. Boys grow as they participate in community
service projects and do Good Turns for others. Probably no device is as
successful in developing a basis for personal growth as the daily Good
Turn.
The religious
emblems program also is a large part of the personal growth method. Frequent
personal conferences with his Scoutmaster help each Boy Scout to determine
his growth toward Scouting's aims.

Cub Scouts
Parents of
young boys face a lot of choices in after-school activities. Boys want
to have fun, while parents want them to learn positive values and skills
that will last a lifetime. If your boy is about to enter first through
fifth grade, Cub Scouting may be exactly what you are both looking for.
Generations of
American men have participated in and benefited from Cub Scouting, and
the experience of serving millions of participants over almost a century
has enabled us to make Cub Scouting one of the most exciting and rewarding
programs available to your family.
As a parent, you
can be assured that Cub Scouting
- Ia variety of family activities
- Encourages good behavior
- Teaches lifelong values
- Strengthens the bonds of family
Activities:
Den Meetings.
Your son will meet weekly or bi-weekly with a group of other boys who
are in his grade.
This provides him a chance to make new friends and do new activities with
a close group of friends.
Pack Meetings.
This is a meeting for all Cub Scouts and parents to gather to recognize
their sons for the achievements
they have accomplished during each month. Skits, songs and plays are just
a few activities during a Pack Meeting.
Pinewood Derby
Races. Pack competition where the Cub Scout makes a racing car for competition.
Blue and Gold
Banquet. Large pack meeting in February where families come together to
celebrate the birthday of the
Cub Scout program. Most will hold a potluck, an ice cream and cake social
or cater food for the event.
Advancement programs and skits are the main attraction of the night.
Day Camp is for
Tiger, Wolves, Bears and Webelos. You leave for camp each morning and
return home each afternoon.

Exploring
Exploring is the
young adult program of the Boy Scouts of America for young men and women
14 to 21 years of age. Local community organizations such as businesses,
professional organizations, churches, and civic groups initiate specific
Explorer Posts. They do this by matching the interests of young adults
with the people and program resources within their own organizations.
