Serve Scouting as a
member of Summer Camp staff.

INFORMATION & HOW TO APPLY:

 

  • The preferred minimum age is 16.​

    • 15-year-olds may be employed, but they provide an Eligibility to Work form.
      These forms can be obtained by the minor from their school. 

    • 14-year-olds may serve as Counselors in Training (CITs). The CIT program is designed to develop future staff members and is a volunteer position. CITs work in almost all of the areas at camp during their weeks with us. CIT must also provide an Eligibility to Work form to be on staff. 

  • The staff is employed from June 9, 2024, to June 28, 2024. These dates are broken down as follows:

    • Staff Week:          June 9, 2024- June 14, 2024.​

    • Summer Camp:   June 16, 2024- June 22, 2024.

    • YMCA Camp:     June 25, 2024- June 28, 2024. 

  • Applicants must be registered members of the Boy Scouts of America or agree to become registered before employment begins.

  • The principles of the Scout Oath and Law must be practiced as a way of life.

 

  • The staff is expected to set an example in Scouting, which includes the proper wearing of the Scout uniform.

 

  • Salary is based on the position's responsibility with consideration of the individual’s experience.

 

  • Review the list of jobs in the various areas and indicate three preferences on the application.

  • Interviews will be held:

    • Saturday, December 2, 2023, from 1:00 - 2:00 pm at the Camp Tukabatchee dining hall. 

    • Sunday, January 14, 2024, from 1:00 - 2:00 pm at the Camp Tukabatchee dining hall. 

    • Can't make it to the interviews listed above, contact the Camp Director for a time and date.

ONCE HIRED:

  • Complete three online mandatory pieces of training:

All youth and adult camp staff should provide proof of the following three pieces of training. Print the certificate of completion and return them to the Assistant Camp Director. These certificates of completion will be held in your employee file and are due no later than May 25, 2024. Screenshots are not acceptable. 

  1. Youth Protection Training  (This training is valid for two years and should not expire before June 28, 2024 .)

  2. Hazardous Weather Training (This training is valid for two years and should not expire before June 28, 2024.)

  3. Harassment Prevention Training (This training is valid for one year and should not expire before June 28, 2024.)

  • Complete three in-person mandatory pieces of training:

    1. ​Summer Camp Training Day: April 13, 2024 / 8:00 am - 12:00 pm

    2. Summer Camp Training Day: May 25, 2024 / 8:00 am - 4:00 pm

    3. Summer Camp Staff Week: June 9, 2024 - June 14, 2024

  • Employment forms will be provided. 

  • All youth and adult staff must complete Understanding and Preventing Youth-on-Youth Abuse Training for Camp Staff prior to commencing work with youth campers. This training must be renewed annually and will be held on April 13, 2024, and May 25, 2024.

1 14-year-old and 15-year-old camp staff members must have an Eligibility to Work form on file. 

2 18-year-old camp staff members must have a Staff Program Permission Slip on file that is signed by their parent or guardian.

3 18-year-old camp staff members must have an Employee Information Form on file.
